Black Forest Road Improvements

Client: City of Colorado Springs

Basis is the prime consultant for the City of Colorado Springs providing Construction Management and Inspection services on the Black Forest Road Improvements project while overseeing a team of subconsultants providing inspection support, materials testing, and public involvement.

This Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority funded project is constructing improvements along a 1.5 mile stretch from Woodmen Road north Research Parkway widening the roadway from two to four lanes and replacing the existing single span bridge over Cottonwood Creek with independent north and southbound single span bridges. With an awarded construction value of $20.7M, additional construction elements include cast-in-place concrete retaining wall, storm sewer system, water quality structures, mass earthwork, aggregate base course, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk, creek stabilization and scour protection, fiber optic shared trench installation, and waterline, gas, and electric relocations and line extensions.
