Cheyenne Boulevard & Cheyenne Road Transportation Improvements

Client: City of Colorado Springs

Basis evaluated improvements to the transportation performance of Cheyenne Boulevard and Cheyenne Road between North Cheyenne Cañon Park to Cascade Avenue – approximately 2.5 miles on each road.

With the City prepared to overlay these roads in 2024, there is an opportunity to improve safety and the vehicular and multimodal experience prior to the overlay. Basis analyzed improvements for curb and gutter, sidewalk, striping, on-street parking, and school pickup/drop-off and parking to enhance traffic operations, provide additional multimodal options for pedestrians and bicyclists, and provide a gateway to North Cheyenne Cañon Park. Additionally, Basis is analyzing alternatives to the Cheyenne Blvd and Cheyenne Rd intersection to improve safety and traffic operations. Alternatives include eliminating an eastbound slip lane onto Cheyenne Rd, a roundabout at the intersection, and a three-way stop.

Project Highlights:
  • Roadway design and modeling
  • Complete Streets Multimodal, ADA Compliance
  • Hydrology, Drainage, and Water Quality Design
  • Alternatives analysis
  • Public Involvement and Stakeholder Coordination
