This complex pavement reconstruction project was engineered and overseen primarily in the field by Basis team members applying City Standards, typical sections, geotechnical reporting, and field engineered solutions. The City took on this challenging project with limited funding confident in the Basis field engineering and construction management team’s ability to complete the project. The team worked closely with the selected contractor daily and provided effective field engineering solutions. Our construction management team was responsible for fast-paced, creative problem solving necessary to deliver this project within City standards and on budget.
Removal of the existing roadway sections and construction of new pavement (materials included aggregate base course, geotextile, mechanically stabilized subgrade, pavement distress fabrics, cement treated subgrade, and asphalt) with improved alignment, concrete improvements (curb and gutter, sidewalk, crosspans, squared returns, pedestrian curb ramps), PROWAG retrofits, roadway crown and surface flow improvements, stormwater drainage improvements (new and repaired storm inlets, new storm pipe), groundwater drainage improvements (horizontal wick drain, French drain, subgrade stabilization), underground utility coordination and protection.
