US24 and Peterson Road Intersection Improvements

Client: City of Colorado Springs

Led by the City on behalf of PPACG, Basis was selected to perform engineering analysis and design of the interchange system, which provides access to Peterson Space Force Base, businesses, and nearby communities from US24.

The federally funded project started with an existing conditions analysis and the team also created an alternatives analysis report of four separate intersection configurations as part of an effort to determine the preferred option in line with FHWA recommendations.  This ongoing project will not only provide more fluid movement of traffic, but will also add multimodal infrastructure for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and trail accommodations, as well as water quality treatment facilities.

Project Highlights:

Our team analyzed different intersection types to work in tandem and provide more fluid movement of traffic while adding multimodal infrastructure for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and trail accommodations.
